Always strive to be true to be oneself, respect others in the process along with oneself. Always remember ladies should be seen and not heard, be graceful and have poise in everything that you do. Confidence goes a long way in securing a great image. So in all you do believe in yourself.
Public and Media
The competition starts long before the night of the show, and the public's perception of a contestant can make or break the young lady on the night of the show. It is therefore crucial to be concsious of one's public. Always conduct oneself in a decent manner, where lady like principles are embraced. Always be polite and friendly to the public, be gracious, and have a warm and bright smile to greet others. Be willing to share encouragement to others and try never to crumble under pressure or difficult times. Instead, develop strategies to overcome challenges.
Once engaged in a pageant the media becomes your best friend, this is a form of Public Relations for the contestant; therefore contructive and well thought out speech is pivtol in creating a positive reflection. Always conduct back ground research on current issues, locally, regionally, and internationally. Be aware of oneself, your strenghts and weaknesses. Think before speaking because what comes out defines you. Include charisma to your delivery, as personality always helps in presenting an effective impact. Finally have fun, the media and public loves to see someone who has a passion for living and is encouraged by this spirit, to give support.
Chaperone
Selecting a chaperone is one of the most important tasks that a contestant can undertake. Any prospective chaperone should have prior experience in the world of pageantry, he or she should be responsible, dependable, honest, and optimistic.
The Chaperone is required to advice his or her contestant on wardrobe, hair, co-ordinating events and accompanying her to various events. He or she should provide a solid moral support system, since preparations for a pageant are extremely demanding. It is therefore an advantage if the chaperone is versed with hair and make-up, fashion and has personal access to transportation.
The Chaperone should have an fantastic network system, in an event that assistance is needed in differing aspects pertaining to the pageant.
